This story is about a community mental health nurse’s long-term journey with a patient who has clinical anxiety. Through Megan’s story, we understand that employment, housing, food, and other social determinants are an essential starting point in supporting someone’s mental health. Megan also discovers that it is not her role to fix people’s problems, but to empower them to find their own solutions.

All people should have the opportunity to make the choices that allow them to live a long, healthy life, regardless of their income, education, or ethnic background.
