This story explores the intergenerational and life-long impact of financial strain in one indigenous community in Central Alberta. Through Marcel’s story, we learn how financial strain can influence health in many different ways, and how he has taken a proactive role in reducing the impact of financial strain by creating economic opportunities and partnering with other communities in the area. The story highlights how reducing financial strain can provide future indigenous generations with both “roots and wings.”
